TechnologyConsulting
You don't always need more developers. Sometimes you need the right decision.
Good technology decisions start long before the first line of code. Not every company needs more hands — sometimes it needs someone experienced to look at the full picture, ask the right questions and help it choose well.
We're a software development company, not a consultancy. Our experience comes from building real products — and you can get it without moving your development to us. Architecture, CTO advisory, code audits, development strategy and AI — for startups, companies and organizations.
01 / When to bring in a consultant
Sometimes all it takes to move forward is a second look from someone who's been there.
Five situations where one good conversation saves months of building in the wrong direction.
02 / Consulting services
Technology expertise. Product thinking. Field experience.
Six areas we advise on — each of them something we also do ourselves, every day.
03 / Three engagement tracks
A one-off consultation, an in-depth audit or ongoing advisory — whatever the decision calls for.
Not every question needs a consulting project. Pick the track by the size of the decision, not the other way round. Scope, deliverables and cost are defined upfront, in writing.
| Track | One-off consultation | Professional audit | Ongoing CTO / technology advisory |
|---|---|---|---|
| Right when… | There's one clear decision on the table: a quote, a technology choice, go or no-go. | You need a full picture of a system, project or team before a big decision — an acquisition, an investment, a vendor change, a rewrite. | Technology decisions come up every week, and nobody in the company can make them with confidence. |
| What it looks like | One or two focused sessions, after we've read the material you sent in advance. | A time-boxed process: access to code, infrastructure, documents and people; interviews; hands-on checks. | A standing arrangement: regular sessions, availability for questions in between, a seat in decisions and team discussions. |
| What you get | A reasoned recommendation, the alternatives considered, and what to close before you commit. | A findings document with prioritized recommendations: what's urgent, what can wait, and what works well and should be left alone. | A decision-making partner over time, a record of decisions and their reasoning, and a plan that evolves with the business. |
| Who's involved on your side | The decision-maker. Sometimes whoever knows the system. | Management, whoever knows the code and infrastructure, and if needed — the current vendor. | The CEO or founder, the dev team and product managers. |
| And afterwards | You carry on alone. If another question comes up — you know who to call. | You implement with your in-house team, your current vendor or with us. The recommendations are yours either way. | We continue for as long as it's useful. When an in-house CTO arrives — we help them settle in. |
04 / What you walk away with
Not a pretty deck. A clear direction you can act on.
Depending on the engagement, the process ends with some or all of these:
We don't believe in consulting that stays in the meeting room. The goal is to give you the tools to decide and move forward.
05 / Why Onezero Labs
Because we don't just advise on development. We build every day.
06 / What this is not
Three things you won't get from us.
07 / How it works
Four stages. No philosophy.
The same process on every track — only the depth changes.
- 01
Understand the challenge
We start with a conversation where we learn about the company, the product, the team and the problem you want to solve. We define what needs checking — and which decision the consulting should lead to.
- 02
Go deep
As needed, we review specs, code, infrastructure, development processes, product documents or existing technology decisions. We work with the relevant people in the company, not just the documents.
- 03
Form recommendations
We present the findings, alternatives and risks. We explain what to do now, what can wait, and what each decision means — in language a non-engineer understands.
- 04
Continue the way that suits you
You can finish with a standalone action plan, continue into periodic advisory, or bring in the Onezero Labs team to implement some of the recommendations. That decision is yours — once you have all the information.
08 / Who it's for
For anyone who has to make a technology decision — not just those who need developers.
09 / If you also need hands
Sometimes consulting is only the beginning.
Most clients implement the recommendations with their own team. When execution is needed too — this is where we continue:
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Technology and product consulting is available from us as a standalone service. There's no need to commit to a development project, and you can implement the recommendations with your own team or current vendor.
Yes. We run code reviews and technical audits on existing systems: identifying risks, examining the architecture and recommending improvements. The scope depends on the system and the level of access available — to the code, the infrastructure and the people who built it.
Yes. We support founders through technology decisions, help choose solutions and vendors, define a development plan and provide ongoing technology advisory. When you hire an in-house CTO — we help them settle in, we don't compete with them.
Absolutely. We work alongside a CTO, an engineering manager, an in-house engineering team or an existing development company. The goal is to strengthen decision-making — not to replace people unnecessarily.
Yes, and it's one of the most common uses. Together we review the spec, the quote, the technology alternatives, the scope and the risks — before you commit. If there's no spec yet, we'll help you define what it should contain.
Yes. We help assess feasibility and business value, plan integrations and automations, and evaluate the technical implications of bringing AI into existing products and processes — including human oversight, data security and ongoing running costs.
It depends on scope. A focused consultation, a full system audit and ongoing CTO advisory require different levels of work. After an intro call we define scope, deliverables and cost together — upfront and in writing, before we start.
No. It suits established companies, organizations, companies with an in-house dev team, and any business that builds a product or technology system — or is considering it.
